In the Sohe District of Northern Province lies Awala Village. As many took the day off to remember those who had fallen during World War 2, not many remember that Awala is where lies PNG’s largest mass-burial of an undisclosed number of high profiled trained Japanese soldiers.
Not much attention is given to this historical site however it is a history worth remembering.
