House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is calling on Senate Republicans to take up the Background Checks Act (H.R.8), which the House passed earlier this year. After last weekend's mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas, President Donald Trump said he and Senate Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell would commit to taking action on gun violence, but he declined to note specific legislation.
