Hurricane Lorenzo is clearing the Azores this afternoon, and is likely to turn post-tropical imminently. However, it has an enormous 600 mile wide gale force windfield. The storm is likely to pummel the coast of Ireland with hurricane force winds tomorrow and Friday, with tropical storm force winds possible for large parts of the British Isles late this week. Lorenzo will eventually fade into continental Europe after weakening rapidly, and will likely be untraceable by the weekend.
Cyclone Destruction Potential Scale rating: 6 Lorenzo's enormous windfield makes it a CDPS Stage 6 for the coast of Ireland late this week, which could be catastrophic for some areas. With flooding issues in recent weeks across the British Isles, up to an extra two inches of rain could fall in quick succession.
