MLA's rewarded for abandoning Government; No deterrent for turncoat Netas? | The Urban Debate On The Urban Debate with Tanvi Shukla,

Story 1 Karnataka Bypoll Election

The BJP top leadership has announced nominations for 13 of the 15 Karnataka Assembly seats set to face bypolls on December 5. And they all go to 13 disqualified MLAs who joined the party just hours before the tickets were announced on November 14.
The disqualified MLAs have changed parties, have gotten a ticket, will fight elections & hope to become MLAs again. That's not a deterrent at all. We need stronger laws because our politicians are greedy, power-hungry & thick-skinned and that needs to change now.
Kailash Vasdev, Senior SC Advocate says"The entire concept of the convention, to have a stable govt, to have democratic principles in Parliament or in the state assembly, to run a country in accordance with law is now forgotten."
Should the law be changed to punish turncoat Netas? Do we need a stronger deterrent?

Story 2 Is Law and Order a joke for U.P. Police?

After "Thain Thain", Cops gallop on batons.
Does this look like a good re-vamp of the police dept that is being done by the govt? Shouldn't they actually have access to horses, functional guns & proper training?
