'Thunderbirds are go!' as DRS 37402 and 37424 are put to the rescue at Colchester on 1Z99

'Thunderbirds are go!' as DRS 37402 and 37424 are put to the rescue at Colchester on 1Z99 News came in early this morning of a stranded 12 car class 321 set on the curve at East Gates with 321426, 321363 and 321348 as the motive power. So, in tradition, it was only fair for us to go out and catch it!

37424 and 37402 are seen firstly at Shaws Farm with the usual 3S60, but earlier than usual. The Harwich portion of the diagram was skipped in order to rescue the errant 'Dusty Bins'.

Next, 37402 is seen leading 37424 at East Street on 1Z99, heading to the failed set of 'cars'.

Afterwards, some shots are seen at Moorside of 37402 and 37424 easing up to the class 321s. An emergency tightlock coupler was used to couple the strickened units to the RHTT with class 37s.

Finally, with a few warning horn blasts and a few touches of power, 37424 is seen leading 37402, 321426, 321363 and 321348 over East Street with 1Z99 for Colchester.

"All in a day's work!" they say!

A sterling effort was made by all to clear the line ready to restore service to the popular 'Sunshine Coast Line'.

Thanks for choosing South East Train Hub, and enjoy!
