Huge news for the arch viz community today, and other industries that use Unreal Engine 4 from Epic Games. Today, Quixel and Epic Games, the makers of Megascans and Unreal Engine respectively, "joined forces!"
What does this mean?
Well, in short, it means now we can all use the enormous Megascan library in UE4 for free, and it became a lot cheaper to use in other software packages as well. It means that adding photorealistic, high detail photo scans to your projects in real time just became a whole lot easier / cheaper. It means that realtime technology is quickly evolving and will eventually become the standard for arch viz renderings, or at least much more widely spread, IMO.
This video, specifically, does not demonstrate all the latest software and plugin updates, but it does show how these two products can be used together to powerful effect. Here I will show the existing bridge and existing Megascans content, and demonstrate how the UE4 plugin can be used to quickly and easily import photo scanned surfaces and objects into your realtime project in UE4. This tutorial demonstrates how these tools can be used to quickly and easily add detail and realism to any scene, and it is about to get much easier and more accessible with the merging of the two tools. Can't wait!
