Kreg Crown-Pro for crown moulding poses some safety issues

Kreg Crown-Pro for crown moulding poses some safety issues Yesterday we tried a “cheat” on cutting crown moulding... the Crown-Pro by Kreg. My initial thoughts on this jig were that it was a pretty cool idea, but after using it for about an hour and nearly killing myself three times, I decided it was not a good idea. The bottom line is that this jig puts your work piece in a raised position above the saw base... which gives the cutoff scrap a chance to drop below the blade and get caught by the blade teeth and launched! I do realize that stopping short after cutting through the material would prevent this.. but since that is not the usual when cutting through material on a chopsaw it’s very easy to forget and get yourself in a mess quickly! If you have one of these jigs please use caution! I guess the moral of the story is that doing crown molding the old fashion way with the workpiece line flat on the chopsaw base is the way to go.
