I wanted to have a deeper discussion about the possibility of Sony trying to undercut Microsoft's Xbox Series X with their upcoming next-gen console the PS5. Based off of everything we currently know about the Xbox Series X it's very likely it will be a $500 console and many of us have been under the impression that is how much the PS5 will cost as well. However, yesterdays PlayStation 5 spec rumor got me thinking about the idea of Sony trying to bring in the PS5 at a $400 price point to undercut Microsoft. We know that Microsoft has some type of plan for a lockhart console which could also be $400 or even $300, but we have no idea what implications that could have on a $400 PS5. What I would want to know if this is in fact what Sony is trying to do, is how big of a difference would there be between a $500 Xbox Series X and a $400 PS5 , would the power difference really be that significant? If Sony can achieve all of the major next-gen features we are expecting and also offer a very appealing price point of $400 than I think that could be a very smart move. This is mostly just speculation, we still don't know what Sony's true plans are just yet.
