Should the New 718 Cayman GT4 be My Next Porsche?

Should the New 718 Cayman GT4 be My Next Porsche? Porsche have launched the new 718 Cayman GT4, the follow-up to a former Shmeemobile, so let's find out what it's like! After running the first gen 981 GT4 myself a few years ago, today I'm out with my friend @ZenCarDriver's brand new car that literally only has 21 miles on the clock to start!

I owned my 981 Cayman GT4 for about 12 months and drove around 10,000 miles with it including a trip as far as Bosnia and Montenegro. However it was sold to make way for my Aston Martin Vantage GT8 that arrived in January 2017, so 3 years on the next generation car based on the 718 Cayman has arrived.

The new GT4 again features an NA flat-6, in this case a new 4.0l unit developed from that in the 911 but most importantly still mated to a 6spd manual gearbox. It makes 420hp and 420nm, 0-100km/h (62mph) takes 4.2s and it'll go to a top speed of 303km/h (188mph). With the sister car, the 718 Boxster Spyder sharing the same setup mechanically, the new GT4 is again a highly in-demand car and my friend @ZenCarDriver has been lucky enough to take delivery of one of the first.

Having literally only just collected it, the car starts the day with only 21 miles on the clock and of course needing me to look after it carefully while running it in - something very important on Porsche models. However, the roads are beckoning and I'm intrigued to find out if this is a car that I should be focusing my attention towards and considering as a future Shmeemobile - particularly with the memories of my former GT4. Let's find out?!
