By doing six down bows in the same direction {with the left hand in third position fingering 2-1 fingering}... on D - C sharp – D – C sharp – D – C sharp [And analogously doing that on all up bows too] you can begin to learn how to do slurs by then smoothing it out as demonstrated in this video.
It’s a great idea to practice open strings to a finger note and practice slurs to any finger. You can do this in first position or in a different position:
0-1-0-1-0
0-2-0-2-0
etc.
But this isn’t shown in the video.
This is a beginning preparation for the slurs in “Jeopardy”.
