Running your VA business is challenging. There is lots to learn and certainly many decisions we need to make. Where are you getting your business advice? In this video we talk about 3 places you might get advice and why they are all important.
Research/On Your Own - if you are seeking advice on your own, get comfortable making decisions and working with them. Activate your brain by being decisive and you will get better at it the more you do it. Ask good questions after doing your own research, don't depend on others to answer every question you have. Google is our friend!
Colleagues - be sure to take advice from VAs who are already past where you are. Supportive advice from those who are trudging along the same path as you feels good, but it is often incorrect and can leave you stuck. Do not seek out the most popular opinion - go for the actual experienced advice.
Professionals - always leave the professional advice to the Big 3 - your government small business website, legal and accounting advice should always be sought from those professionals. If you are looking for help from a coach or trainer, make sure you choose someone who works with the specific problem you are trying to solve.
The bottom line is that you will always be seeking advice from people as long as you are a business owner. Choose experience every time - whether they are podcasts or articles, colleagues who are further ahead than you, professional services, or specific trainers and coaches. You'll get where you want to go much faster!
