A US airstrike killed a powerful Iranian general at Baghdad airport on Friday - as the two countries stand on the brink of war.

President Donald Trump personally approved the rocket attack that took out elite commander Gen. Qassim Soleimani.

The powerful leader of Iran's elite Quds Force was targeted as he plotted an attack on American diplomats, according to the Pentagon.
