Janos Pasztor: The Need to Govern Large-Scale Carbon Dioxide Removal

Janos Pasztor, executive director of the Carnegie Climate Governance Initiative (C2G), discusses his organization’s work on the governance of emerging technologies that intentionally seek to change the Earth’s climate system. In this clip, he focuses on large-scale Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR)—those approaches that would take carbon out of the atmosphere. He touches on the status of current research and the need for comprehensive governance frameworks for these technologies, which, at present, do not exist.
