LUXURY IN SAN JUAN - What a sprint train ISN has | Vuelta a San Juan 2020

LUXURY IN SAN JUAN - What a sprint train ISN has | Vuelta a San Juan 2020 Director Sportive Lionel Marie has a luxurious position in the Vuelta a San Juan. For flat stages, he can choose between four quick finishers who are all also willing to ride for each other. That spirit resulted in a second position in the bunch sprint.
In the first stage the great team spirit resulted in a fantastic victory for Rudy Barbier. In the second stage McCabe finished sixth. In stage four, Israel Start-Up Nation had another chance for a good result. Before the race, the riders decided to wait to assign the leader till after the main climb of the day. They trusted one another to be fair about their fitness.
Rudy Barbier: “Of course, we are all professionals. I would also be very happy if a teammate wins the sprint.” Hugo Hofstetter added: “If I work 100% for Rudy or Travis McCabe today, I trust them that they will work 100% for me one day too.”
And so it happened. The riders went up the climb, jumped into the descent and communicated. Conclusion: McCabe would be the leader in the sprint. In the long travel by van towards the start line, the six chosen ones already had discussed how they would approach the final kilometers.
With a tight turn five hundred meters before the finish line, they wanted to be with the first ten riders in the pelotons. ISN was not the only team contesting for those positions. Likewise was Bora Hansgrohe (for Peter Sagan) and UAE Emirates (for Fernando Gaviria).
McCabe could get himself in the mix, however, Rudy claimed a great position in the peloton and raced to another podium spot.
Today it is rest day in the Vuelta a San Juan.
