Peanut allergy is a type of food allergy to peanuts. It is due to a type 1 hypersensitivity reaction of the immune system in susceptible individuals. On January 31, 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported on an Immediate press Release, that it has approved, Palforzia containing peanut/ arachis hypogaea allergen powder, to mitigate allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, that may occur with accidental exposure to peanuts.
