In Episode 7 join me as I head across the infamous Dacre Point Estuary Crossing (arguably the worst in the North Island for logistics), down the coast into Long Bay and FINALLY AUCKLAND!! It's a long day through the bays, up and over the coastline and various headlands into Takapuna where we take a zero day, before heading into Auckland CBD the following day. Julia had already hiked the Coast to Coast walkway through Auckland city, so I headed off from the ferry terminal alone (after having picked up my hut pass) and met her at Ambury Regional Park that evening. We also caught up with Paul at the park, the older Scots gentleman we'd met first at Ngunguru. The following day we head through the Ōtuataua Stonefields and onto the Ihumātao. peninsula (currently plagued by protest) before walking straight through Auckland Airport on our way to Manukau. Day 27 brought a long and hot (mainly) road walk from Manukau to Ramarama, which ended in us skipping a large chunk of trail (to my immense disappointment) due to the heat and a growing painful heat rash on my legs.
