Dr. Michael Ryan, the executive director of the World Health Organization's (WHO) health emergencies programme, said on Friday that they were not at a stage yet to declare the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic.
He explained that the course of the virus can be "significantly altered" due to a mixture of response, including containment measures and "robust" public health.
However, he said if countries don't prepare, a pandemic is a global possibility.
