Hi all! My name is Alice and I"m 21. Do you like to play games? I think all people do, in their own ways. But if you're my parents you'd probably say, hey, Alice, people your age don't play. Games are for silly little girls. Well, what can I say... sometimes games can really change your everyday life. Let me tell you a story.
This happened a year and a half ago. I used to be an avid TikTok user those days. I had a few characters with their own channels. Sallie, a music fairy playing a flute was the most popular one. Once I recorded a Cheap Thrills flute cover. And the vid went viral. I received tons of positive feedback and got many followers. People started recording reaction vids for my cover.
A video made by a user who went by a name SteamJorney was the most curious one. His character, a popular steampunk robot, mixed in his violin track with my flute. And I thought. Damn, Sallie must really like that! So, we started chatting. He'd record vids for me and use Sallie's ask for questions. I did the same, of course. Have you ever made friends on the Internet on occasion?
Once SteamJourney and I had a mad reaction exchange. He made a video with his new outfit and I complimented him saying girls are gonna be all over him. SteamJourney said that, alas, his heart is taken by Sallie. Sallie jokingly said that they're almost married anyway. SteamJourney replied that they only need a formal engagement. And Sallie said, not problem, let him come and make a proposal.
Unfortunately, after this, I had to take a bit of a break from all my channels. THey were detrimental to my studies and I could have failed a few tests. However, this exchange really made me feel warm inside. And I was extatic when I got a text from SteamJourney. He said he was in my town and would love to meet up in a day. We walked around the city and chatted.
I showed him my favorite places. He didn't tell me his name, but it was okay, he didn't know mine either. One of the places we went to was a little garden with a unique brand of roses called Oziria. I mused out loud that it was sad you couldn't find those in flower shops. He didn't say anything to that. Towards evening, we went to a coffe shop where SteamJourney really wanted to go.
We were taken to a lovely table set with hanging curtains, and treated like VIP guests I was confused, besided, the place seemed too expensive. But SteamJourney said that he wanted to handle the check. The dishes were out of this world delicious. And then there was a dessert...
And a ring right on the piece of cake. I was numb. SteamJourney said the proposal wasn't a joke and he would happilly offer me a hand in marriage. I should have probably said something else, but it was "Umm... no."
"Journey, you're a great guy, but I don't even know your name".
"You're in love with Sallie, not me. I have a different personality and life."
SteamJourney was really upset. He sagged, became quiet and awkward. Then he left. It wasn't like he was mad at me, he said he understood, but his pain was clear. I didn't know what to think. I felt bad for hurting him. On the other hand, I couldn't possibly say yes! I was the first time I saw him. What was he thinking! But I was still discomfited and didn't sleep all night. This made me fully concentrate on my studies and exams. I got an honor roll. And was accepted into a good university as a biology major. But fate wasn't done with me, even though I was pretty much done with my channels. On the first day of studies, among my fellow students I saw...
