Finding your place in God's Story
The God Who is Unfathomably Wise
Proverbs 3:19-20 New King James Version (NKJV)
19 The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens; 20 By His knowledge the depths were broken up, And clouds drop down the dew.
We serve a God who’s wisdom is far beyond what we have and not only that, He wants to share that with us.
1. God’s wisdom is for all of us.
James 1:5-8 New King James Version (NLT)
5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
What is Wisdom?
Why do we need wisdom from God?
God’s Wisdom is SUPERIOR in all aspects, in all categories, in all situations.
NOT JUST IN YOUR DIFFICULT TRIALS.
2. God’s Wisdom is our foundation.
Matthew 7:24-29 New Living Translation (NLT)
Building on a Solid Foundation
24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
• Heavenly Wisdom comes daily from learning God’s word and asking for His guidance.
• Having God’s wisdom in your life can help you before your tough situations
o Though the rain comes, it won’t collapse because it is built on a bedrock.
3. God’s Wisdom will change your life.
James 3:13-18 New Living Translation (NLT)
13 If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. 15 For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. 16 For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.
17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. 18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.
