Floyd Mayweather has expressed an interest in buying a controlling stake in Newcastle United from Mike Ashley.
No, really. He is interested.
The retired boxer has an estimated net worth of around £500m and reports claim he is keen on securing a deal, despite no official talks having taken place.
Mayweather was recently asked at a fan event: "You're very, very interested in buying Newcastle United?"
And the undefeated boxer replied: "In the U.S. we call it soccer, but the Newcastle football team is an unbelievable team. A hell of a team."
He then told the fans in attendance: "If the people want me to buy the Newcastle team, let me know!"
And Mayweather's entourage have confirmed this is not simply a PR stunt, according to TMZ.

Newcastle hero Alan Shearer is one of a number of high-profile names to publicly criticise owner Mike Ashley over his running of the football club.
He told Coral: "There is a lot of unrest in Newcastle because the life and soul really has been sucked out of Newcastle United over the last 12 years.
"They just want a bit of hope and this owner hasn't given that.
"He himself has said in recent interviews he'd give himself one out of five for ownership. He as put his foot in it on more than one occasion he's admitted, so that's why there is so much unrest towards him.
"I think over the 12 years he has owned Newcastle United there has been a net spend of £67m, around £5.6m, £5.7m, on average per season, and that is another reason why fans are feeling they are having to put up with more than they should do."
