IGI airport 2022 plan: Many firsts among extra runway and increased passenger capacity

IGI airport 2022 plan: Many firsts among extra runway and increased passenger capacity Following Delhi International Airport Limited’s (DIAL) 2017 proposal for expansion of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport by 2022. The project seems to be working towards many ambitious goals. The airport is slated to have new taxiways, an additional (fourth) runway and also one elevated cross taxiway. Apart from this, Terminal 1 will be expanded as well. DIAL estimates that the work will be completed by 2022. The expanded Terminal 1 is expected to cater to 4 crore passengers per annum upon completion compared to the current two crores. Meanwhile, Terminal 3 will only cater to international flights.
