Stunning footage of divers' close encounter with blue sharks off Cornwall

Stunning footage of divers' close encounter with blue sharks off Cornwall Blue sharks have been captured in a stunning video as they played around divers from Cornwall for five hours.

The beautiful fish were filmed by Emily Stevenson, co-founder of eco campaigners Beach Guardian, during a boat tour - and she said they spent more than five hours playing around them.

Emily, 22, said conditions were perfect to capture the crystal clear footage off the coast of Falmouth and described it as the best experience of her life.

But she warned that the beauty of what she filmed came with a sobering message - that more than 20 million blue sharks are being killed each year with no catch limits in place.

She said: "A friend said they were going out on trip looking for blue sharks and asked if I would you like to come. I totally jumped at the opportunity and it was phenomenal.

"We headed out to Falmouth early in the morning and saw dolphins almost straight away so we knew it was going to be a great day.

"We got to the position where the sharks were most likely to be and within minutes one had joined us. They were with us for five hours and it was the most incredible experience I have ever had.

"Everyone was floating and the sharks were just swimming around us. They would come close and then move away - like they were puppies. They were so inquisitive, gentle and curious and I have just totally fallen in love with them.
