Joe Perry and Brad Whitford have some pretty unique guitar stylings and phrases that I think are utilised so well in what is a killer track. When I learn a song, I usually just try and play along by listening and I'll later cross check live videos to make sure I'm in the right area. Well, after watching some live vids and the 'Making of Pump' I was so confused with how it looked like Joe was playing certain parts, mainly the chorus. I've come to appreciate his and Brad's guitar playing a lot more now. Also, the swing the band has on these songs and the use of dominant 7 phrases in the solo, is something I really like too.
