Taipei City is cracking down on vendors at Shilin Night Market, after numerous customers complained about price gouging. The vendors have been ordered to make sure their price lists are prominently displayed on their stall signboards. City officials will start inspections on Nov. 3, and non-compliant vendors will be fined between NT$20,000 and NT$100,000.The crackdown comes after one customer complained that two portions of grilled diced beef cost her NT$600. Previously another customer cried foul over paying more than NT$1,000 for a bag of fresh fruit. Taipei''s Market Administration Office says it will ramp up its measures if complaints about night market rip-offs continue.
