Hello students, here we are going to study a very important and interesting topic as, Impulsive force from class 11 IIT JEE physics.
Contact Force
Contact force is a force that is applied by objects in contact with each other. The contact force acts on a point of direct contact between the two objects. This force can either be continuous as a continuous force or can be momentary in the form of an impulse.
The contact force is governed by Newton’s Laws.
Contact force is responsible for most of the interactions we experience in daily life.
What is the Impulse?
Impulse is defined as a force multiplied by the time it acts over.
For example, Footballer strikes a ball, an impulse is applied to the ball. The foot puts a force on the ball for a short time period.
A higher amount of force is required or a considerable time period to bring the body to a halt. As the force acts on the body for a given time, the body’s velocity changes and hence the body’s momentum changes.
A force changes the velocity of an object in either way. Also, if the object’s velocity changes, the momentum also changes.
Normal Force:
The normal force is also called the Support force. The normal force is the support force exerted upon an object that is in contact with another fixed or stable object.
