TRUCK DRIVERS DOWN TOOLS IN PROTEST FOR PROPER RECOGNITION AND BETTER WAGES Truck drivers across Zambia have downed their tools calling on government to provide better working conditions.

Meanwhile, the Zambia police spokesperson Esther mwata Katongo has disclosed that 8 truck drivers have been arrested in Lusaka after they blocked the road with a view of diverting traffic.
Six were apprehended from Kabangwe area while two in Chirundu.
Copperbelt Province has arrested 28 truck drivers.
All are detained in police custody in respective police stations.
Mrs Esther Katongo: In Luapula province, some people took advantage of absence of police officers at Kapalala check point hence blocked the road and forced truckers to park their vehicles.
Police officers rushed there and apprehended three who are in Police custody while others ran away. The situation is currently normal and traffic is flowing smoothly.
In North Western Province, the situation is calm except around 1200 hours where about 12 truckers were coerced to park against their will but when officers went their they ran away and the trucks proceeded.
