The argument on the quantum of punishment will take place on December 19. The offences entail a maximum punishment of life imprisonment.
Sengar (53) has now been convicted under the charges of rape and Section 5 (c) and 6 (for public servant committing penetrative sexual assault against a child) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
"I found her statement truthful and unblemished that she was sexually assaulted. She was under threat, worried. She is a village girl, not from cosmopolitan educated area... Sengar was a powerful person. So she took her time..," said the judge said while delivering the verdict.
As the judge began reading out the judgement, co-accused Singh fainted. Delhi's Tis Hajari court also expressed displeasure with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over the delay in filing the charge sheet.
