Usually altostratus is pretty dull, but the first part of the day is pretty neat. Some dazzling altocumulus peek through and some of the shapes are extraordinary - see thumbnail. Then the altostratus becomes typically dull, but the clouds thicken and suddenly the approaching storm becomes apparent. 0.25" of rain (in February?!) came from this storm.
