I've received this question as I launched an invitation to a group of HR professionals to meet up and network. My immediate response was, "What do you want to receive from it? And with what are you willing to contribute?".

I remembered the following distinction that can shift your life and career from linear to exponential in no time (as it did for me).

GIVE AND TAKE vs. GIFTING AND RECEIVING

The first keeps you in survival mode, while the second puts you in creation mode.

'Give and take' is all linear, mathematical, and limited.
'Gifting and receiving' isn’t. It's exponential, magical, and unlimited.
