In my reaction video to the previous Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer, I noted how in the original game, Sephiroth breaks Jenova out of its confinement in the Shinra building and several viewers in the comments took issue with that phrase. It was even claimed I was simply ignorant of Final Fantasy 7 lore if I did not realise that it was Jenova who escaped itself and simply assumed the form of Sephiroth as it did so.
Now, while it is true that Jenova is a shape shifting alien that took on the form of Sephiroth during this incident, and that Sephiroth's physical form has been encased in mako at the Northern Crater during all of these events - it was still 100% Sephiroth that was breaking Jenova out here.
