At the 2020 Winter NAMM Show, Taylor Guitars released a number of new models and in doing so added to the ever growing Builder's Edition Collection, as it is now being called. One of those models was the new Builder's Edition 912ce, the first Grand Concert 6 string guitar to be added to the line up. Bringing the Builder's Edition features to the smallest full size body shape in Taylor's line is something that I had been personally lobbying for. As a finger style player the smaller body size brings an immediacy of attack and dynamic range with a light touch that is unavailable in larger guitars. Adding the Builder's Edition appointments makes an already comfortable guitar practically transparent to the player. Those specific appointments include: armrest bevel, cutaway bevel, compound cutaway, chamfered binding, silent satin finish, softened wing bridge and Gotoh tuners. The top has been changed to Lutz Spruce on this model providing a deep resonant bass character that pairs well with the overtone rich East Indian Rosewood.
