The struggle to make makeup trends work on hooded eyes is real, but it doesn't mean you have to shy away from eyeshadow altogether. Check out how Janelle Han easily transforms her eye shape with this eyeshadow tutorial. Hooded eyes have a fold that creases shadow easily and builds up oil faster. To combat this, Janelle stresses the importance of prepping and priming lids for smooth eyeshadow application and a flawless result. Begin by applying Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Eyeshadowin 'Urbanite' all over the lids with a flat brush. This shadow acts as an adhesive for shadows and accentuates the colours (who doesn’t love a multi-tasker?).
Janelle recommends shimmery shades to brighten up the eyes. Using City Mini Palette in Rooftop Bronzer, Janelle lightly presses a champagne shade on the inner half of her lid, finishing with a deep bronze on the outer lid. Hot tip: look straight ahead to ensure the colour shows when your eyes are open!
To create the illusion of a socket crease, use a fluffy brush to brush a dark-bronze shadow lightly on the outer corner of the eye. To lift the eyes, extend the dark-bronze shadow down to the lower lash line. Next, use Master Precise Eyeliner to create a thin-to-thick baby wing. Follow with a matte-brown shadow from City Mini Palette in Matte About Town, smudging it to the outer lash line and slowly working it into the outer socket line.
For brighter, bigger-looking eyes, trace the waterline with Master Drama Light Liner. Finish by highlighting the inner corners with a light gold shade from the Matte About Town palette. There you go, an instant eye-opener!
