I’ve been natural for nearly 15 years. Once I grew my hair down to my waist, my need to prove to black men in specific and all people in general, that black women can grow long hair like any other race, disappeared. My hair quickly went from trophy status in my mind, to a nuisance in my life.
I no longer needed to prove anything. I realized that such long thick hair was a hassle, and decided it was not worth it.
My nightly routines all but ceased to exist. For two years I have been taking anti depressants that have caused my hair to thin out and become fragile.
Since there is no question about the importance of my medications in my life, I decided to begin again, a healthy hair journey by taking health supplements to combat my hair loss.
